The version for Windows will only run on Win98 or older platforms.
You can the program within later versions by right-clicking on the .exe file
clicking on "Properties", go to "compatibility" and pick Win95 or Win98.
The version for Macintosh will work under the 'Classic' feature of OS X but not the new Intel Macs]
